This parcel office was located on the Somerset and Dorset line at Shillingstone Station. Parcel offices similar to the one at Shillingstone were quite common. The building would have been used to manage post and parcels, as well as storage for other goods. After the station was closed in 1966, this was one of the few buildings that actually survived, and was thereafter used by local businesses for storage.
Since the site’s restoration, the building has now been set up as a museum.
