Concrete P-Way Hut - KIT

These pre-fabricated concrete line side huts were a common sight across numerous lines. Many still exist and can be found in varying conditions, with some still in use today. These huts were usually placed at intervals of 2-3 miles, and were designed for tool and equipment storage, and used by permanent way gangs. They were also equipped with a stove and made a welcome retreat for the workers in bad weather, where they could take shelter and use the stove to keep warm and cook food. The lineside hut was sometimes accompanied by a smaller prefabricated hut and used for additional tool storage.
